To ask for money back from a credit balance on your rent account, complete this form.
Before you start
Only complete this form if you are a council tenant and have recently checked your online account or rent statement showing extra credit
Only credit balances of more than 1 month of rent will be refunded.
You will need
- your rent account reference number
- the value of the credit being claimed
- an active bank account in your name for the refund (BACS transfer requires recent bank statement details)
What happens next
if you get housing benefit, we will check for overpayments before processing the refund, which takes 6 to 8 weeks
if the refund is under £150 or you do not get housing benefit, you should get a refund within 4 weeks.
